Your first Hands N Paws visit is just around the corner, and we couldn’t be more excited to care for you and your pets!
A little preparation ahead of time helps ensure your first visit goes smoothly for both your pets and our team. Please take a moment to review the steps below before your upcoming service.
Step 1: Order Your Lockbox
Hands N Paws requires a physical lockbox with a spare key unless an alternative access method has been pre-approved (such as a door code).
If you haven’t already, please make sure your lockbox has been ordered and installed before your first visit so our team can reliably access your home.
Step 2: Complete Your Client Account
Before your first service, please confirm that the following items are completed in your client account:
Profile Section
Fill out all required fields, including home entry instructions, lockbox details, and veterinarian/emergency medical information. Learn more.
Pet Profiles
Create and complete a profile for each pet in your household, including detailed care routines, feeding instructions, medications, and any important behavioral notes. Learn more.
Billing Information
Add your payment method under the Billing section so services can be processed smoothly. Learn more.
Scheduled Services
Confirm that your services are scheduled correctly with the proper date, time window, and any applicable add-on tasks selected. Learn more.
Completing these steps helps ensure our team has everything they need to care for your pets safely, accurately, and confidently.
Step 3: Download the App and Enable Notifications
Please make sure you’ve downloaded the Precise Petcare app and enabled notifications on your phone.
This allows you to receive real-time updates during each visit, including:
- When your sitter is on the way
- When the visit has started
- When your post-visit journal has been sent
These updates help you stay connected and informed throughout your pet’s care.
Step 4: Prepare Your Home for Your First Visit
A few small preparations can make a big difference in helping visits go smoothly for both your pets and our team.
Confirm Home Access
Please double-check that all entry methods are working properly and clearly described in your account under Profile → Home Access.
Examples include:
- Lockboxes
- Garage codes
- Door codes
- Key locations
Review Your Pet Care Notes
Our team’s success depends on how clearly your pet care instructions are written in your pet profiles, so accurate and detailed notes are extremely important.
Please go to Pets → ✏️ and confirm details such as:
- Feeding amounts and schedules
- Food and treat locations
- Leash or harness location
- Litter box setup or potty routine
- Medication instructions
The more detail you provide (including locations of things we need!), the smoother each visit will be.
Confirm Emergency Information
Please ensure the following information is current in your account under Profile:
- Primary veterinarian
- Emergency contact
- Emergency care instructions
Having accurate information allows us to act quickly if an unexpected situation ever arises.
Ensure Pet Supplies Are Available and Easy to Find
Please make sure essential supplies are stocked and easy for our team to locate, including:
- Food
- Treats
- Poop bags
- Litter
- Medications
- Leashes and harnesses
Label Items if Helpful
If your pet has a detailed routine, labels can help prevent confusion.
Examples include:
- “Morning medication”
- “Dinner portion”
- “Night treats”
Clear labeling helps ensure your pet’s routine is followed exactly.
Prepare Your Home Environment
Before your first visit, please take a moment to:
- Secure any off-limit areas if needed
- Ensure outdoor pets have collars with ID tags
- Make sure pathways and key areas are easily accessible
A tidy environment helps our team move comfortably through your home and focus on caring for your pets.
What to Expect During Your Visit
Once your service begins, here’s how the assigned team member will keep you updated.
On-the-Way Notification
You’ll receive a notification when your sitter is heading to your home.
Visit Start Notification
You’ll also be notified when the visit officially begins and your pets are in our care.
Post-Visit Pet Care Journal
After each visit, you’ll receive a journal update that includes:
- A summary of how the visit went
- Photos of your pets
- Any important notes from the sitter
This allows you to see exactly how your pets are doing while you’re away.
How We Handle Questions or Concerns
If anything unexpected comes up during a visit, your sitter will first consult our internal leadership team for real-time support.
If needed, we will then contact you directly by call or text to discuss the situation.
Your pets’ safety and comfort are always our top priorities.
After Your Visit
Once your journal arrives, you’ll have the option to leave:
- A rating
- An optional comment for your sitter
Our team members truly love reading these messages.
You can also revisit past journals anytime by visiting My Schedule in your client account and clicking the journal icon for a specific visit.
You’re All Set!
Thank you for helping us prepare for your first service. We’re honored to care for your pets and excited to welcome you to the Hands N Paws family. 🐾
