Preparing for Your Meet N Greet

Thanks for scheduling your Meet N Greet! We’re so excited to connect with you and learn more about your pets 💜

Your Meet N Greet is a 15-minute onboarding conversation with Benny, the owner of Hands N Paws. During this time, we’ll make sure we’re a great fit for one another, answer questions, and walk through exactly how our care model works so you feel confident and supported moving forward.

Before Your Meeting

Before your Meet N Greet, we recommend reviewing the “Important Things to Know Before Services Begin” section below so we can ensure we’re fully aligned on the most important areas.

Important Things to Know Before Services Begin

Service Area

Hands N Paws currently serves homes located within the I-270 loop in Columbus.

Please make sure your home falls within our service area before we have our Meet N Greet.

Team-Based Care & Pet Temperament

Hands N Paws operates using a team-based care model, meaning multiple trusted caregivers may care for your pets depending on scheduling and availability.

Because of this, pets must be:

  • Comfortable with new people entering the home
  • Safely manageable during visits and walks
  • Non-aggressive toward humans or other animals

Unfortunately, we are not able to work with pets displaying:

  • Aggression
  • Severe stranger anxiety
  • Dangerous or unpredictable behaviors
  • Excessive leash pulling that creates safety concerns during walks

Our priority is creating a safe and positive experience for both pets and caregivers.

Regular Drop-In Services

We offer fully customizable drop-in visits between 6 AM and 11 PM.

Available visit lengths:

  • 20 minutes
  • 30 minutes
  • 45 minutes
  • 60 minutes

Visits can include walks, feeding, medication administration, litter scooping, playtime, companionship, and more. You tell us what your pet needs during the visit, and we tailor care accordingly.

You may schedule as many visits per day as needed.

Overnight Services

Our overnight services are designed as cozy sleepovers rather than continuous daytime care.

A caregiver arrives in the evening, stays overnight, and leaves the following morning—essentially combining a bedtime visit, overnight companionship, and morning care into one service.

Many overnight clients also schedule additional drop-in visits throughout the day to create a more complete care schedule.

More information on Overnight Services coming soon!

Two-Hour Arrival Windows

All services are scheduled within two-hour arrival windows rather than exact arrival times.

Our earliest arrival window is 6–8 AM.
Our latest arrival window is 9–11 PM.

This structure allows flexibility for traffic, weather, emergencies, and the needs of other pets on the schedule while ensuring every visit receives the care and attention it deserves.

Lockbox Requirement

All clients must have a lockbox with a working spare key before services begin.

Garage codes, keypad entry, and one-time access methods are accepted only if they are highly reliable and consistent.

Reliable lockbox access helps our team provide smooth, uninterrupted care every time.

Apartment & Building Access Requirements

If you live in an apartment where your unit door leads directly outside, your setup will typically work just fine with our standard lockbox system.

However, if your apartment door opens into an interior hallway—meaning our team must first enter a secured building, lobby, hallway, or elevator area before reaching your unit—we require a specific setup to ensure reliable team access.

In these cases, we require:

  • A reliable building access code or call box system that our team can use independently
  • A lockbox securely attached to your apartment door with a working key inside

In most apartment setups, the process looks like this:

  1. Our caregiver enters the building using the provided access code
  2. They locate your apartment unit
  3. They access the lockbox attached to your door
  4. They use the stored key to enter your home

Because Hands N Paws operates with a team-based care model, we cannot rely on:

  • Leasing office assistance
  • One-time guest access
  • Front desk coordination
  • Physical fob handoffs between visits

Reliable independent access helps ensure services run smoothly and consistently for both our clients and our team.

If you’re unsure whether your building setup will work with our care model, we’re happy to discuss options during your Meet N Greet.reet.

Medication & Specialized Care

We’re happy to administer many common medications, including pills, supplements, and other routine treatments.

For more specialized or complex care instructions, we may ask you to record a quick demonstration video during onboarding so our team can reference proper handling and administration techniques moving forward.

Visual guidance helps us maintain consistency, safety, and confidence across our care team.

Vaccination Records

All pets must be current on vaccinations. Please have records available to confirm during onboarding.
